TORONTO, ON (April 29, 2023) – FEL Motorsports is excited for the return of expanding Canadian motorsport team, Martella Motorsports. Martella Motorsports participated in the inaugural season of the Sports Car Championship Canada presented by Michelin in 2021, but due to the commitment to advance young Anthony Martella in the karting space in the US, the team stepped away from the 2022 SCCC season.

In his efforts to expand the Canadian motorsport team, owner, Tony Martella, has struck a deal with renowned Canadian driver, Marco Cirone, who is currently racing in the 2023 IMSA Porsche Carerra Cup North America.

“We’ve been hard at work behind the scenes for the past year and a half developing our junior program with my son, Anthony Martella,” said Team Principal and Owner, Tony Martella. “With the help of Audi Canada, allocating us a new Audi RS3 LMS TCR car, I couldn’t be more excited to get the season started with Marco behind the wheel,” Martella continued.

Marco Cirone added, “I’m so excited to be participating in the 2023 Sports Car Championship Canada presented by Michelin. When the call came through and we managed to create a partnership with Martella Motorsports, we were all so thrilled.” Cirone continued, “Racing in Canada with a truly professional group of organizers and participants is something that we are all passionate about. I believe 2023 will be the best year ever with FEL. Can’t wait to get started and fire up that new Audi race car!”

Martella Motorsports has put together a great program with the help of Bestline Autotech. They plan to expand the team with the development of Anthony Martella in the Gen 1 Audi RS3 LMS TCR. Martella Motorsports is extremely proud to have Nin Transportation as a part of their sponsorship program for the upcoming season.

“We are really excited to have both Tony Martella and Marco Cirone back in the FEL Motorsports paddock. Two very professional guys who are committed to bettering the sport here, in Canada,” said FEL Motorsports Manager, Jessica Benevides, of the announcement. “We have been watching Anthony Martella’s success in karting in The States, and look forward to the day we can welcome him to the Sports Car Championship Canada grid,” Benevides concluded.

FEL Motorsport President, Chris Bye, said, “I consider both Tony Martella and Marco Cirone great friends first and competitors second. To say that I am thrilled to have Martella Motorsports and Marco back on the grid this year is an understatement. Both Tony and Marco exude exactly what my vision of FEL Motorsports was when we started this journey and for that I am grateful to both.” Bye continued, “I can’t wait to see some of the best racing teams this country has ever produced on track together in just a few weeks.”

The season is set to begin at the Victoria Day Speedfest at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on May 19, 2023.
