Rookie Timothé Pernod Takes Winning Debut Form to His First Street Circuit at Trois-Rivières

TROIS-RIVIÈRES, QC (August 6, 2026) — Most drivers wait a full season for a first podium in the Emzone Radical Cup Canada presented by Michelin. Timothé Pernod collected two in his first weekend, including a victory. The 18-year-old karting graduate, who races the No. 51 TWOth Autosport entry, won a wet Race 1 at Calabogie Motorsports Park in his series debut, then added second place on Sunday. This weekend, August 7-9, brings a new test: the walls of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières street circuit.
“I didn’t have many expectations that weekend. That made it easier, less stress, and I had the speed,” said Pernod (translated from French). “The team was there to support me, and I just had to focus on my driving. I’m really proud to have been on the podium twice and to have won one of the races.”
Pernod credits his karting background for a smooth transition to the Radical SR3. “In karting, everything happens so much faster, so in my head the car is slower,” he said. “You have much more time to think about what you’re going to do at the apex.” The confidence came early at Calabogie. “When I saw on Friday that I was quick in practice, matching the pace of Brady Clapham and Alex Tagliani, I told myself there’s a chance here.”
The rookie is approaching Trois-Rivières the same way he approached his debut. “Once again, I don’t have big expectations for Trois-Rivières,” said Pernod. “I’ll train on the simulator, listen to what the team has to say, and watch videos of Kenny Riedmann from last year. I’ve never raced on a street circuit, so we’ll see.”
