FEL Motorsports gears up for exciting debut of GT3 Cup Class in Sports Car Championship Canada Presented by Michelin
FEL Motorsports introduces an inclusive platform for multiple GT3 Cup models
ST. CATHARINES, ON (January 29, 2025) — FEL Motorsports is thrilled to announce the introduction of the highly anticipated GT3 Cup class to the Sports Car Championship Canada (SCCC) presented by Michelin, set to debut in the 2025 season. Following extensive discussions with the Canadian GT3 Cup community, it has been decided that all available GT3 Cup models will be eligible to compete in this inaugural season, creating an inclusive and competitive platform for teams and drivers across North America.
The decision comes as FEL Motorsports aims to provide a quality racing series that brings together a significant number of GT3 Cup cars currently sitting idle in garages or participating in track days. With an emphasis on premier venues, the new class offers these vehicles and their owners an exciting opportunity to race within a professionally managed series. The 2025 GT3 Cup class will be invitational, adhering to the rules and technical regulations specific to each eligible model. The following GT3 Cup models have been confirmed as eligible for the inaugural season:
• 992 (2021–present)
• 991.1 (2017–2020)
• 991 (2013–2016)
• 997.2 (2010–2013)
• 997.1 (2005–2010)
The season will feature trophies, podium ceremonies, and the crowning of a class champion. However, prize money will not be offered, allowing FEL Motorsports to focus on gauging participation levels and interest from GT3 Cup teams and drivers. Insights gained from the 2025 season will inform plans for the expansion and evolution of the class in 2026 and beyond.
“After speaking to many teams and drivers, it became clear that balancing performance (BoP) across the various GT3 Cup models would be a challenge. We also wanted to avoid creating multiple small classes. This approach allows us to make informed decisions for 2026 and beyond,” said Chris Bye, President of FEL Motorsports. He continued, stating, “Our goal is inclusivity, and we’re excited to see the possibilities this new class brings. The response from the GT3 Cup community has been positive, and we’re confident this is the best path forward.”
The GT3 Cup class will compete on the same high-performance Michelin tires used across all SCCC presented by Michelin classes. Drivers are required to hold a National license issued by ASN Canada, an FIA affiliate, or a comparable governing body such as SCCA Pro or IMSA. This regulation aligns with FEL Motorsports’ commitment to safety and professionalism across its series.
The SCCC presented by Michelin GT3 Cup class will make its debut during the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Victoria Day Speedfest, scheduled for May 16–18, 2025.
