Emzone Radical Cup Canada Opens Markham’s New Street Circuit in Round 4
Twenty-two cars, twelve turns, and a track none of them has driven. Round 4 runs August 14-16 on a circuit that did not exist last season.
MARKHAM, Ont. – Every driver in the Emzone Radical Cup Canada presented by Michelin has a lap count at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, at Calabogie and, since last weekend, at Trois-Rivières. None of them has a lap at Markham, because until this weekend nobody did.
Round 4 of the series, races seven and eight of ten, runs on the Markham street circuit as part of the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham. The circuit is 3.52 km and 2.19 miles long with 12 turns, laid out by Tony Cotman of NZR Consulting through Markham Centre on Kennedy Road, Enterprise Boulevard, YMCA Boulevard, Unionville Gate and University Boulevard. It carries a double-sided pit lane, with garages on both sides, a configuration forced by the Unionville GO rail corridor and previously seen only at Detroit and Arlington. Cars run beneath the GO station between Turns 4 and 5, and again on the exit of Turn 5.
Twenty-two cars are entered, split 12 Pro and 10 Masters, one more than at Trois-Rivières. Selene Tsang returns in the No. 18 Radical Academy entry after sitting out Round 3. Brady Clapham’s No. 77 and Parker Gill’s No. 15 are now listed under Radical Canada East, and Steven Wistuba’s No. 99 moves to Euro Parts with Stanbi Racing as sponsor.
The event replaces the race that ran at Toronto’s Exhibition Place from 1986 to 2025, and it is the second street round of the series’ season after Trois-Rivières. Eight races across five series are on the bill: the NTT INDYCAR SERIES on Sunday, the NASCAR Canada Series on Saturday, doubleheaders for USF Pro 2000 and USF2000, and the Emzone Radical Cup Canada doubleheader, with Race 7 on Saturday and Race 8 on Sunday following the INDYCAR race.
The drivers do not agree on what a new circuit rewards
Sydney Cassels has spent 2026 arriving at circuits she has never seen while the rest of the Pro field arrives at circuits they know. She is seventh in the standings on 92 points, and finished fourth in Race 6 at Trois-Rivières, her best result of the season.
“Everyone else has never been at this track, so it makes me feel a little more confident that everyone else is exactly where I’ve been all season,” said Cassels.
Parker Gill reads the same circuit as a preparation problem rather than a leveller. He is fourth in the standings on 135 points, five behind Timothé Pernod, and took his second podium of the season in Race 6.
“The biggest thing is going to be the track walk on the Thursday. Try and take in as much information as I can, because with Markham, it’s green. No one’s been there, everything’s new for people,” said Gill.
Gill also intends to arrive with laps already run. “I know it’s just got released, I think this week, so going to try and find that, get at least a few laps in beforehand,” he said of the circuit’s simulator version. “If we can’t get the Markham, just run as many street circuits as you can on the sim so that you get the feeling.”
What each of them is protecting
Clapham leads the Pro standings on 220 points, 70 clear of Alex Tagliani. He has finished first or second in four of the six races run and won two of the last three. He arrives at Markham having taken the lead of Race 6 at Trois-Rivières on lap 27 of 31.
Tagliani took pole and won Race 5 at Trois-Rivières, then finished eighth and three laps down in Race 6. That single race is most of the reason the Pro gap is 70 rather than 40.
Pernod is third on 140 with a second and a third from Trois-Rivières. Gill is fourth on 135 and has finished in the top five in every race he has completed this season, his only non-finish coming in Race 2 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
In Masters, Robert Burgess leads on 210 points from Cédric Ohayon on 191, a gap of 19. Ohayon won both races at Trois-Rivières and has taken the gap down from 60 to 19 across the last two rounds. Burgess has been on the class podium in five of six races.
No livestream this round
Under the broadcast and licensing agreements in place for this event, Races 7 and 8 will not be streamed. Live timing, official results and the post-weekend report publish as normal.
Markham has no timing loop, so there will be no sector data from this round. Trois-Rivières remains the only round of 2026 that produced any.

Nobody in the field has a Markham result, but three Pro drivers finished on the podium at the series’ only previous street round, at Trois-Rivières eight days earlier: Clapham, Pernod and Gill.
